Ever since the word got out that chef Jason Zygmont was leaving his position as executive chef at Treehouse Nashville, fans of the favorite East Nashville hang have been wondering who would take over in the kitchen. The good news is that experienced Nashville chef Jeremy Britt will bring his brand of inventive cooking and put together a staff of fellow creatives.
Britt studied cooking at Secchia Culinary and Grand Rapids Community College where he received the Director’s Award in 2011. Since moving to Nashville in 2014, Britt has worked in several notable kitchens, including at Urban Grub, Firefly Grille, Adele’s and Diskin Cider. Treehouse owner Matt Spicher is quite excited about his new hire. According to a recent announcement on Eater Nashville, Spicher describes Britt as being “as a bit like Maverick from Top Gun — a smile on his face, and ready to take risks for a shot at greatness.”
Former Treehouse chef Zygmont also recently announced that he be launching a new pop-up wine bar in the middle of East Nashville that he is calling Setsun. Zygmont and his partner in the venture Ray Melendi plan to bring a menu of small plates paired with a concise, ever-rotating wine list to this new operation at 700 Fatherland Street.
