Next month, Chef William Dissen will host a special Sunday Supper for the Southern Foodways Alliance (SFA) at his Uptown restaurant, Haymaker (225 S. Poplar Street.) Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 21. A cocktail reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., and dinner gets going at 6:00 p.m.
The purpose of the dinner is to “celebrate the diverse food cultures of the changing American South.” To do this, several of Charlotte’s best chefs will gather to prepare a five-course family-style meal.
Here’s the line-up:
Canapés:
Tomato Sandwich - housemade pullman bread, garlic aioli
Pickled Shrimp Salad - fennel, fermented chili, cucumbers
1st Course:
Chef Joe Kindred of Kindred Restaurant
Flounder crudo, green coriander, cucumber, soft herbs
2nd Course:
Chef Greg Collier of Uptown Yolk
Dirty rice grits, fried chicken skins, stem chow chow
3rd Course:
Chef Rodolfo Montero of Sav/Way Foods
Artichokes, magret duck, pedro ximenez, salmorejo cordobes
4th Course:
Chef William Dissen of Haymaker Restaurant
Pork coppa carnitas, salsa verde, whole wheat roti, lots of pickles
Dessert:
Chef Ashley Anna Tuttle of Community Matters Café
Peach Tart, almonds, and ricotta
Each ticket costs $100 and includes beverage pairings, with a portion of proceeds going to SFA. Tax and gratuity are not included. Get your tickets here.
